| As my new found decision to enter into broadcast journalism I'll report to you, the uninformed, about when is REALLY being voted on here locally. 1). Question 1 This is being voted on by the Kansas side. This is a ludicrous and poorly planned item. It proposes build 20, count 'em, TWENTY soccer fields near the Blue Valley school district(as if THEY need state money to build these). Now why do we need twenty soccer fields for the Kansas side of KC school districts? The proponets of the bill want you to believe the fields will be nothing but good for KC. I beg to differ. A twenty year tax would be issued to pay for these fields and not only that, they are proposing we spend SEVENTY FIVE MILLION dollars(insert malicious laugh here)?!?!? How on earth can you spend all that money on those fields? Here is a breakdown on what exactly we are paying for: ----- • Soccer Fields = $30,416,600 (Site work, drainage, soccer fields with natural and synthetic surfaces, lighting, irrigation, and scoreboards.)
• Buildings and Grounds = $22,901,600 (Concessions, restrooms, maintenance building, landscaping, parking, sidewalks, fencing, picnic shelters, playgrounds and community facilities.)
• Infrastructure = $4,862,700 (Roads, utilities and all permits.)
• Land Acquisition = $16,819,100 ----- Now one would logically think that the state would spend more on land acquisition than anything considering that they would have to buy out homes at market value and such. Not only do we GET to pay for this, the school districts/leagues will still have to pay for using the fields, spending more and more taxpayer money. Now ask yourself do we REALLY need twenty soccer fields? Soccer is NOT a major sport in America so why do we need to spend this much on something that we really don't care that much for? 2). Question 2 This is the one of the biggest, most confusing, and important amendments proposed in Missouri, ever. Most people are buying into the ads about how embryonic stem cell research can cure disease, heal cancer, make you more attractive, ect. There has been absolutely NO EVIDENCE that embryonic stem cell research can cure or even treat ANY medical condition. The proponents also claim that there is no cloning involved and it "bans human claoning," that is the most confusing wording and you have to actually look at the actual amendment proposal to see that they are infact making cloning, a constitutional right. The only way they can advertise and get away with this is because of your grand old Roe vs Wade mistake in saying that an unborn fetus is not human. So yes, they will clone human fetuses, destroy them for their stem cells, and study whats left. Now before all you internet kiddies come around and say, BUT WHAT ABOUT MICHAEL J FOX, HE HAS DISEASES AND HE SUPPORTS THE AMENDMENT AND HE WAS IN BACK TO THE FUTURE PEW PEW LOLOLOL? Just think about that commercial, that idiot is exploiting his condition to back his democratic buddies and force you to feel bad for a giant leech. I'm not trying to be mean but when I saw that commercial I strait out laughed. I couldn't believe someone in Hollywood could sink THAT low. Anywho to sum up, vote no for Q1 and Q2. |
